Every year U.S. taxpayers send hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to the so-called Third World countries, from whence come the hordes of the lawless. In these lands, food can be grown 12 months a year, and there is no need to buy fuel for heat. But they choose to come here.

Such do-gooders as Martin Lepkowski ("Americans ignore plight of migrants," Commentary, Dec. 1) accomplish nothing but add to the diatribe from the slanted media, which we get constantly. If they really wanted to help, they could go to these places and help dig a well, plant a crop, or build a home or an outhouse.

Those who instigated the migrant caravan could easily be identified. They should be jailed and charged with convincing these poor souls to break the law while causing them to suffer for weeks, especially women and children. Give them a fair trial and then hang them.

If life is so bad in their country, is there not a man or woman among them who can rouse the populace to join together to help create a better life for all?
