President Trump’s recent response to the brutal killing of Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Turkey is appalling. The most respected information-gathering agency in the world, our CIA, believes that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the torture and murder of The Washington Post journalist, according to the Post. Jamal Khashoggi had been critical of the prince.
“The CIA has concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul last month, contradicting the Saudi government’s claims that he was not involved in the killing, according to people familiar with the matter," the Post reported.
The president has chosen to doubt this report: "maybe he did, maybe he didn’t.” He reasoned that since the Saudis give a lot of money to America, the United States will continue to do business as usual with Saudi Arabia. Our moral values have been forgotten. America is now open to the highest bidder.
There is not a day that goes by that I am not ashamed of the words and actions of our president.
