I wrote this on Election Day afternoon, too soon to know who was elected and too soon to know what Congress will be doing in the months and years ahead.

Can you imagine members of a new Congress setting up unofficial study groups with equal-party participation to explore in depth together our most pressing policy questions? Can you imagine a new president in two years establishing a unity government with a cabinet having many secretaries of the opposite party? That’s what a nation in crisis needs.
