The Nov. 5 editorial (“Goodbye to that golden time”) brought back memories of departed Red Sox players of the past. Many of them won’t mean much to current fans.

One of the best things about having a great local newspaper is the stories the reporters write about so many different topics. It’s not just politics, crimes and the daily accidents that catch our attention. It reminds us of the world we live in, those in the limelight and those who live under the radar, but all of them important to their friends and families.

It was a touching tribute. Thanks for reminding us of the fragility of life.
