NORTH PROVIDENCE — Police are seeking a man who went behind the counter at Sam’s Food Store, 1700 Mineral Spring Ave., at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, opened the register and took cash.
He left the store and fled in an older green Jeep Cherokee, bearing R.I. plates VR-345, that had been reported stolen in Providence. The Jeep headed for Providence on Douglas Avenue, a news release from the chief said.
No one was hurt. The stolen Jeep has not been found, North Providence Police Col. Arthur Martins said in a news release. Anyone who knows the location of the Jeep or the identity of the suspect is asked to call North Providence Detective Luis Rivera at (401) 231-4522, extension 1135.
