There is much work ahead for Newport school board

I believe my message of changing how things are done on the Newport School Committee resonated with the people of Newport.

And so, I will work hard to honor that message and ensure that, as a School Committee, we will speak to the opportunities and challenges that face the schools — not micromanage day-to-day operations. We will identify educational policies and processes that allow each child to achieve his or her potential, and keep in the forefront of our minds the fact that we, School Committee members, parents, teachers, administrators and the community, are all on the same team: Team Newport.

Our opponents are the problems we face, not one another.

We have much work in front of us. I look forward to working with you, as well as my colleagues on the School Committee, and I can’t wait to get started.

Aida Neary, elected to Newport School Committee

Thank you to Second Ward voters

To the residents of Newport’s Second Ward, thank you for your confidence and returning me to the City Council for another two years. I’d like to thank Valerie Larkin for running a positive and fair campaign.

I am so honored and grateful to all who helped me throughout the September primary and the November midterm elections. Your support is so appreciated.

Lynn Underwood Ceglie, Newport City Council Ward 2
