Residents, their families and staff at the Bannister Center, a nursing home and rehabilitation facility in Providence, raised money to help end childhood poverty by taking part in Red Nose Day on May 26.

They pooled winnings from their bingo game and, together with a contribution from the center, collected $25 to purchase 25 red noses from Walgreens, the event's official retailer.

Red Nose Day is an annual fundraising campaign run by Comic Relief. Proceeds help support a number of nonprofit organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which provides safe places for children to spend time after school; Children's Health Fund, which brings medical services to underserved communities; and Feeding America, a hunger-relief organization. More than $100 million has been raised over the past three years.
